Gordon Smith elected as Honorary Vice President

At our recent AGM, Gordon Smith was elected to the group of Honorary Vice Presidents.

Gordon  began his cricket career in the West Minors XI in 1959, and, in time, established himself as a very successful 1st XI opening bowler for many years, culminating in the award of four Scotland caps. He was closely involved in coaching in the 1990s, particularly with the West District Juniors, and finally stopped playing around 2000.

He was Primary Headteacher at Jordanhill School from 1989 till 2009, and after retiring became Chairman of the Club Board during our 150th season in 2010-11, which included a Civic Reception at the City Chambers. Despite being a busy grandpa, Gordon still attends West matches regularly.

Congratulations Gordon on your well deserved election!
