The club is beaming with pride as Nayma Sheikh, a top player in the Women’s team, secured the prestigious sports award at the Sunday Mail Young Scot Awards 2023. The talented young cricketer’s achievement has not only gained local recognition, but has also reached the Scottish Parliament, thanks to the efforts of the Member of Scottish Parliament, Collete Stevenson.

In a letter sent to Nayma Sheikh, Collete Stevenson extended warm congratulations, hailing her work ethic and determination as ‘awe-inspiring’. Stevenson, impressed by Nayma’s accomplishments, went a step further by lodging a motion in the Scottish Parliament to formally celebrate Nayma’s achievement. The motion, presented in writing, highlights Nayma’s remarkable journey in the world of cricket. Nayma has been a consistent recipient of multiple Player of the Year awards and special recognitions for her exceptional talents on the cricket field. Her contributions extend beyond the local level, as she represented Scotland in the first-ever women’s cricket team at a World Cup.
