Women’s Team Captains

The Women’s Section decided after their first season to follow a different model of captaincy than the Senior section. They have a leadership group who share the captaincy and take a lead on the decision-making process affecting the Women’s Section as a whole. The three captains bring a range of experiences and leadership styles that can come into their own when on the cricket pitch and in the changing room. International coaching and playing commitments often mean not all three captains are available for each fixture so having several options means the team is never without a leader.

Lauren Payes

Lauren joined West of Scotland in 2018 after moving to Glasgow for university. She is an all-rounder who has represented Gibraltar in tours across Europe.

Her favourite memory at the club was the first competitive game for the Women’s Team. A Women’s Premier League win against Edinburgh South/Stewart Melville, that saw all the hard work the team had put in over the winter put into practice. She scored 32* and took the key wicket of overseas professional Hannah Short.

In her own words: ‘I was really excited to be a part of a new women's team and considering we have only been a team for 2 years we have gelled very well.’
