Maqsood signs new contract with Sunrisers

Massive congratulations to Abtaha Maqsood, who has signed a new contract with the Sunrisers. Abtaha has been extremely successful with the Sunrisers since joining in 2022, taking 23 wickets in the process.

Head Coach Andy Tennant in response to the news: “We are delighted that Abtaha has agreed to extend her contract with us, as she’s become an integral part of our bowling attack. She works so hard on her game every day, and is impressing day in day out. Abtaha’s quality and technical ability has been on show for all to see this year, and for her to take the first competitive Sunrisers five-for was a special moment. We can’t wait to see her pick up many more wickets in a Sunrisers shirt.”

Outside of the Sunrisers, Abtaha has also continued her career with the Birmingham Pheonix team in the Hundred, as well as international duties, where she is now Scotland’s leading T20 wicket taker.

Abtaha was a key member of our Women’s team at its creation, captaining the side, providing runs and wickets on the field, and was, and still is, a hugely inspiring figure across the club. It is great to see her efforts continue to be rewarded, and the club wishes her all the best of luck.
