Welcome to West
West of Scotland Cricket Club is a Community Amatuer Sports Club that was founded in 1862, and is situated in Partick, Glasgow. The Club and our ground, Hamilton Crescent, has a rich sporting history having hosted international fixtures for four different sports, including the first every international football match.
Nowadays, we focus on cricket and have a strong playing membership of over 120 people across our Senior, Women and Junior teams. We are proud of our heritage and continue to play our important role in the local community.
Our historic Clubhouse also serves as a community hub, utilised by various community groups and for private functions.
The beginning of international football
On St Andrew's Day in 1872, Scotland faced England at Hamilton Crescent in what is recognised as the world’s first international football match. A crowd of 4,000 spectators gathered, each paying one shilling to witness this historic event. Though it ended in a goalless draw, the match marked a pivotal milestone in football history.
In 2023, we celebrated the 150th anniversary of this iconic fixture, welcoming Harry Kane and Andy Robertson to Hamilton Crescent. This followed a commemorative rematch held in 2022, where local pupils participated under the watchful eye of goalkeeper Craig Gordon.
We are proud to have this event as part of our history, and it continues to attract football tours and spectators to Hamilton Crescent today.
Clubhouse Renovation
In January 2021, our Clubhouse suffered extensive damage from a flood that impacted both the furnishings and structural integrity of the building. An inspection revealed that the roof and exterior also needed significant repairs to ensure the Clubhouse could continue to serve the Club as it has since 1923.
We are proud to announce that, as of June 2024, the first phase of restoration is complete, securing the building to be wind- and watertight—thanks to tremendous fundraising efforts that raised over £300,000. We are incredibly grateful to everyone who has recognised the importance of West of Scotland Cricket Club and its history through their support.

Cricket
We provide cricket for all ages and abilities. In 2018, we introduced our Womens section which has been a great success. We also have a history of producing high performing Juniors who have gone onto to play representative and international cricket.

Clubhouse & Facilities
