OUR JUNIOR TEAMS
-
Girls Dynamos (8-10 years)
New for 2024, we introduced Girls Dynamos. These fun, engaging 90 minute sessions are great to get your child developing hitting, throwing and catching skills.
-
Under 12 Softball & Hardball
Our Under 12s teams play both soft and hard ball cricket. Playing both allows players new to the sport to learn the game in a safe environment whilst allowing the more experienced players at this age to get their first taste of competitive hard ball cricket.
-
Under 14 & Under 16 Hardball
Our U14 and U16 teams compete in WDCU league, where players continue to refine the cricket skills they’ve developed in their junior years.
We’re committed to helping all juniors reach their potential, with many gaining their senior cricket experience through our various Senior and Womens teams at this stage.
Winter Softball Sessions
Across the winter, we run two blocks of 6-8 sessions of indoor soft ball training at the Western Baths. These sessions are welcome to all, including non-members, and provide a fun, engaging way to keep developing cricket skills.
Please get in touch if you are interested.
REPRESENTITVE CRICKET
We have a proud history of supporting talented junior cricketers who have progressed to play at domestic and international levels. Our coaches and senior captains are experienced in integrating juniors into senior cricket, fostering a safe and supportive environment for their development.
The Western Warriors offer regional opportunities at U14, U16, and U18 levels, while Cricket Scotland provides various national age-group teams. The club is committed to supporting juniors who wish to trial for these teams, ensuring that their performance is recognised and nurtured at the appropriate level.
EXPERT COACHING GROUP
West is fortunate to have a talented coaching team dedicated to providing top-quality training for all our members, led by former Scotland international Moneeb Iqbal.
Moneeb grew up at West of Scotland CC, progressing through the age groups before making his Scotland debut at just 16—the youngest debutant for Scotland’s men’s side. Now back as the Club’s head coach, he is passionate about giving back to the next generation.
In addition to his role at West, Moneeb is an assistant coach for Scotland. He brings his high-level experience, including from the 2024 T20 World Cup, directly into his sessions with our juniors and coaching staff.
