Glasgow University’s relationship with West
Luke Chafer, Glasgow University Cricket Club captain, speaks about the relationship the club has with West of Scotland.
“The partnership between the Glasgow university cricket club and West of Scotland, initially set up in 2016, has been of great benefit. Obviously, the partnership has enabled us to play our home games at the outstanding Hamilton Crescent ground and granted us the use of the indoor facilities during the winter however the partnership has meant more to the club than this alone.
The dedication of the coaching team provided by West of Scotland, led by Mike Ashworth, has enabled the club to move forward, particularly with the successful implementation of the adult beginners programme mirroring the initiative started at West.
The partnership has also led to an integration between the two clubs with players from the university side joining West’s senior sides, granting our players with further experience and improving our performances on the field. The partnership has been a fruitful one so far and long may it continue.
