2023 Season Kicks Off
As we move towards summer the 2023 season fast approaches. This weekend will see pre-season matches for several West teams with the McCrea FS 1st XI off to Goldenacre to play Heriots on Saturday 22nd, while the Partick XI head to East Kilbride for a friendly on the same day. (Please note, West will not be playing Falkland at Hamilton Crescent on Saturday 22nd as originally planned). Sunday will see the McCrea FS 1st XI take a trip west to play Greenock. Hopefully the weather holds over the weekend and the teams can get some match preparation in!!
The league season will kick off for senior sides next weekend, with the McCrea FS 1st XI handed a difficult first fixture hosting champions Ferguslie at Hamilton Crescent, James Fennah will be hoping his team can get off to a solid start. Saturday 29th will also see the Hamilton Crescent XI kick off their league campaign against GHK Strathclyde at OId Anniesland, new captain Tom Broadley should have a strong side to pick from to get his reign underway.
Due a fixture scheduling quirk, the Partick XI begin their season on Saturday 30th, with a game against Motherwell at Hamilton Crescent. Ben Cole and his side will be looking to make their mark in a new division after the league restructure.
The Sunday XI and Women’s XI will start their seasons slightly later. Lauren Payas and the rest of the Women’s XI kick off with a big match against regular title challengers Carlton at Hamilton Crescent on Sunday 14th May.
Full fixture lists will be on display in the clubhouse at Hamilton Crescent, you can also access full scorecards and follow games live on WDCU Live. We once again look forward to games being live streamed through the Frogbox system, streams can be accessed on WDCU Live, the club Youtube account and also through Twitter and Facebook.
It is all shaping up to be another great season at West and we look forward to you joining us across the season. We must also extend a thanks to all our sponsors, in particular McCrea Financial Services, who we would encourage all members to explore the services, support and advice they provide.
