The Forecast: Cricket is back!
The Forecast will be our series of weekend previews for the 2025 season. We hope to cover team selection, form, fixtures and who to look out for in the weekend’s fixtures! We hope to not have to cover the rain!
West of Scotland begin their build-up to the new season with a friendly against Greenock this Saturday at Glenpark. After a spell of glorious sunshine, the rain has returned so we’ll be keeping everything crossed that the match goes ahead.
Club Captain James Fennah will lead a mixed 1st/2nd XI side as they look to get some much-needed time in the middle ahead of the league opener on 3rd May.
The match offers a great chance for new members to show what they can do with talented Junior Joshi making his Club and Senior debut. Meanwhile some familiar faces such as Smith, Etheridge, McNulty and Ross will be blowing off the winter cobwebs and getting back into the swing of things.
Speaking ahead of the game, Fennah said:
“It’ll just be great to get back out there. We’ve had a good winter indoors, but it’s never quite the same as outside. Hopefully the weather plays ball and we can get a proper run out.”
The match is due to start at 1pm and will be live scored on WDCU Live as well as streamed live on Youtube for those unable to make the trip!
