Chairman awarded retrospective cap from Scottish Rugby
On a typically hot Tokyo afternoon in September 1977, West of Scotland CC Chairman Colin Mair ran out onto the pitch with his Scotland teammates in the Olympic Stadium for the first time. It was a special occasion for Colin, who played at full back and went on to contribute 30 points from his boot in a comfortable 9-74 win.
At the time, Scottish Rugby did not award Test caps for all international matches. This is now being rectified, with more than 50 players set to receive their cap. Colin is one of those players to benefit from this decision, and we can’t wait to see him wear it with pride. The club is proud of Colin’s achievement and is glad to see him get the recognition he deserves.
