Comfortable Win Over Ayr
On a showery day, Captain Gurjit Singh opted to bowl first after winning the toss and with himself and Partick's other opening bowler taking early wickets all was going according to plan with Cambusdoon reeling and down to their last wicket stand in the 19th over with 64 on the board.
Cambusdoon's Niall McCrossin, still at the crease took a wrecking ball to Partick's bowling attack whilst youngster Narahari Bhandari supported him well at the other end in a 47 run last wicket stand off just 5 overs with McCrossin finishing with 67* before Partick finally broke through Bhandari's defence with some impressive swing bowling from Kinshuk Bhardwaj on debut for Partick. Skipper Singh saw his figures go from 4-15 off 8 overs to 4-41 off 10 as McCrossin's entertaining innings reached its heights.
Partick went about the chase in aggressive fashion with one eye on the forecast. A 48 run second wicket stand between opener Richard Wing (33) and James Williamson (30) took them within 27 runs of the win with Williamson's innings including the shot of the day with a beautiful cover drive that had the purists in the crowd purring.
Cambusdoon's bowling attack came back with great fight with Matthew Baines ending with figures of 4-41 off his 10 overs as wickets began to fall but Callum Coats (13*) saw the team home securing a 5 wicket win.
