Newsletter: 3rd August

Another busy week as we head into the final stages of the season, but rain emerges as the winner, allowing only two matches to be completed. Firstly, the Midweek XI played out a tight fixture against Victoria, managing to sneak home by one wicket - with Shayan Anwar being the hero, batting well with the tail to secure the win. Next, our Partick XI made the long trip to Galloway, where they spent more time in the car than on the field, thanks to an excellent bowling performance. Opening bowlers Etheridge and Rawat performed exceptionally well, skittling Galloway for 53, and then our batters chased down the target, losing only 3 wickets in the process.

Nayma and Jenna selected for tri-series in Dumfries

Congratulations to Nayma Sheikh and Jenna Stanton, who have been playing for Scotland U17 in Dumfries against Ireland and the Netherlands this week. Both have been performing well, with Nayma smashing an excellent 80*. Full scorecards are available here: https://cricketscotlandlive.com/matches/?entity=135042&grade=75102&season=15 .

Jedhli returns home

Unfortunately, due to family circumstances, our overseas professional Jedhli van Briesies is returning home. Throughout his time with the club, we have benefited greatly from his keeping, batting and bowling talents, as well as his knowledge and coaching. We thank him for his time at West, wish him all the best, and have his family in our thoughts.

Moneeb continues his international coaching duties

At the recent World T20 qualifier in Edinburgh, club coach Moneeb Iqbal was on hand, putting the Scotland players through their paces. Following the successful tournament for the Scots, Moneeb is working with Scotland A and we wish him all the best.
