Return to Winning Ways
Partick returned to winning ways on Saturday with a victory over Whitehaugh in the WDCU Premier Reserve League.
Stand in Captain Chris Ross lost a good toss to lose and Whitehaugh chose to bat. Patrick's opening bowlers Gavin Lynch - on League debut -and Daniel Graveling taking two wickets apiece.
The fielding performance was excellent with a stunning catch from Captain Chris Ross of podcasting fame. Some sharp work at gully taking a deflection off second gully Ben Robinson who smartly decided to let the ball hit him and leave the catch to Kevin Singh.
Then came the bowling change and leg spinner Anthony Hulatt was brought into the attack taking 4-7 supported by Mike Ashworth with 2-2 wrapping up Whitehaugh's innings for 61.
Partick knew the game wasn't over with a good bowling track and a history of facing the Whitehaugh bowling attack the chase was always going to be tough.
Openers Ben Robinson and Amol Deshmukh both falling for single figures with Kevin Singh unable to repeat his fine form from preseason friendlies and no repeat of Jonny Williams' stoic performance in the same fixture of the 2018 season.
However, James Williamson and promising youngster Callum Coats saw the team home bagging a 6 wicket win. A welcome return to winning ways after a false start to the title defence.
