West of Scotland Cricket Club Fundraising Dinner - Sunday 17th September
As part of the fundraising for the Pavilion Restoration at our Hamilton Crescent ground, we are pleased to announce a major Fundraising Dinner at the Doubletree Hilton Hotel, 36 Cambridge Street, G2 3HN on the evening of Sunday 17th September at 7pm.
This comes shortly after the special 150th Anniversary football match between Scotland and England on Tuesday, 12th September. We are being assisted in the organisation of this event by several club supporters including our sponsor, Douglas McCrea, Scott Murdoch(a Glasgow-educated London businessman), restaurateur Satty Singh and a local company, Alliance Events. Between them, these supporters have already sold 16 tables x ten guests each, and they are also facilitating Auction and Silent Auction prizes.
The Dinner will be hosted by well-known tv personality, Dougie Donnelly, who will interview guest speakers, Alex McLeish and Frank McAvennie (football), Gordon Sherry (golf) and at least one well-known cricketer. Unfortunately the timing of the World Cup has caused the unavailability of rugby speakers. Attendees will receive a three course dinner, preceded by a champagne reception, and there will be an Auction, a Raffle and a Silent Auction. Dress is lounge suits or equivalent.
This is a major fundraising opportunity for the club and we would encourage club members to attend and consider organising tables of ten with family members, friends and/or work colleagues - and perhaps some of you might consider either a company table in addition to your own or directing your own contacts to the online ticketing platform. Information about the online platform will be on the club website soon. There will also be the opportunity for members to order tickets individually or with a partner and we shall organise these club attendees into tables together.
The online ticket price will be £75 per person, £750 per table of ten plus a booking fee (£49.44 per table). Online tickets can be booked through this link.
There will also be a reduced price of £60 per West cricket club member without any booking fee, open to club members and partners. This reduced price will be available direct from the club, with full details provided at the bottom of this piece.
As an example, a club member’s table consisting of yourself and a partner and 8 non-members will cost £720 - again there will be no additional booking fee for a club member’s table.
We cannot emphasise too much the importance of making a huge success of this fundraising opportunity, particularly when we are receiving so much support from excellent friends who value highly our ground’s historical heritage and wish to assist West in our current plight and ensure the club’s long term survival.
