Moosa was nominated to take on the third side’s captaincy role for the first time next season and during our interview he signalled his intent to lead the side with a winning mindset, leading fearlessly from the front. “Individually, you will see me play a crucial role. I intend to provide contributions with the bat to score quick runs and give us solid starts, while placing pressure on the opposition by also being economical with the ball.”

Moosa was in ambitious mood, noting that his sights were set not only on promotion for the Hamilton Crescent XI but aiming for a championship trophy lift too. “As the new captain, I’m not here to try my luck, but to lead us to victory. Last year is behind us and we are setting our sights on promotion and winning the league, and I expect nothing less. Together we will create a team that knows how to win.”

Not only has he set those high expectations for the Western Championship Division 2 side, but his ambition also extends to the type of cricket that can be expected at the New Williamfield, noting “We will play fearless, attacking cricket that puts our opponents on the back foot. As captain I’ll be there to provide guidance and support to the players, creating an environment where we play with intensity and confidence.”

Beyond cricket Moosa likes to focus outside of the cricket season on other sport pursuits – most notably, golf, table tennis and badminton, but cricket is often on his mind. “The off season for me involves a mix of fitness training, skill development, and recovery.” He noted that it was important not just to train but to rechange mentally, enjoy hobbies and spend time with family and friends.

While setting his sights high for next season, Moosa also took time to highlight the variety of activities going on at West of Scotland, and the community behind it – encouraging new members to join. “Joining us means becoming part of a community that values growth, teamwork, and fun. We do lot of social events where we get incredible chance to bond with our club mates. It’s a place for everyone.”
