India quizzes Beth about new leadership role!

Taking on a leadership role has many responsibilities and an obligatory Q&A for the club website is the most important! Here we have a summary of an interview with our new vice-captain, Beth Haley, asked by wicket keeper India Harrison.

What's your goals for the 2024 season?

“I'd like to support Nadia in leading the team to even more success this season such as winning the league and retaining the cup. I also want to continue promoting women's cricket's growth in Scotland by encouraging more people to come along and give it a go. I’d love to encourage more beginners to play in the challenger league and experience the joys of playing cricket!”

Have you had previous leadership experience?

“I do! I have been captain of two different football teams and stood on university sports committees for football and cricket. I also have youth football coaching experience.”

What excites you about being vice-captain?

“I am really excited about becoming a bigger part of WoSCC and getting more involved with the club as a whole. As well as the women's team being very successful competitively, I think the team is incredibly welcoming and that makes it such a great place to come and try cricket. I'm very proud to be a part of such an amazing community and am honoured to be given the chance to give back.”

What excites you about being vice-captain?

“Going up to Aberdeen to play Northern Lights with only 8 players, and supporting Ellen to take us to victory as the last batsman.“

Finally, what would you recommend for anyone reading this interview?

“I would suggest they sign up to the newsletter, which they can do by putting their email in the box below.“
