Lauren Payas and Nadia Tolliday Lead the Way for Gibraltar and Scotland A

Lauren Payas, a prominent player in our women's squad, recently made a big impact on the international stage. Playing for the Gibraltar Women's National Team in the Women's Central Europe Cup, Lauren's outstanding performance helped secure a victory against the Czech Republic Women.

Coming in to bat at number six on 16th June, Lauren delivered 54 runs off just 41 balls, hitting six fours. Her partnership with Elizabeth Ferrary was nothing short of remarkable. Together they scored 147 runs, making it the second-highest fifth-wicket partnership in T20 International Women's (T20IW) history. This laid the foundation for Gibraltar's comfortable win by 104 runs.

The Women’s Central Europe Cup, held over the weekend of 14th - 16th June, featured six matches, with each team playing each other twice. Gibraltar's team showcased exceptional cricket throughout the tournament, winning three out of their four matches. Their consistent performances led them to emerge as the overall champions of the cup.

Lauren Payas's contributions were pivotal to Gibraltar's success and showcased her capabilities as a top-tier cricketer. Not only did she provide stability in the middle order, but her ability to anchor the innings and accelerate the score when needed proved crucial.

In other exciting news, our women's team captain, Nadia Tolliday, has been selected for the Scotland A team. On June 16th, Nadia played her first matches for Scotland A in the ECB Women's T20 County Championship.

In the first game against North East Warriors, Nadia bowled three overs with an impressive economy of just 4 runs per over. In the subsequent match against Nottinghamshire, she bowled four overs with an economy of 6.5. Remarkably, in both games, Nadia had the lowest economy rate among the Scotland bowlers. Nadia has now been added to the training squad and is set to play against Yorkshire this weekend.

Our club is incredibly proud of Lauren and Nadia’s achievements and looks forward to supporting them in their future endeavours.
