West Pavilion Restoration Fund

As many of our own community may know, the West Pavilion needs major renovation if it is to continue to serve the club as well as it has since 1923. While the water ingress of January 2021 caused enormous damage, it is clear from closer inspection that the roof and external structure need considerable attention too. Our architect and others in the construction field have estimated that the external improvements will cost approx £220,000 and that work has to be Phase One. Thereafter, Phases Two and Three will involve renovating and improving the interior of the building, likely to cost upwards of £550,000, although ultimately the extent of the work we undertake will be dependent on the available finances.

Since the AGM, we have been planning fundraising activities, assisted by some with expertise in such work. There will be different aspects to these activities and we will update members in due course. One of these will involve a Crowdfunding appeal to the wider public, which necessarily requires careful preparation with a professional provider.

Meanwhile, several long-standing club members have already offered donations towards the cost of Pavilion Renovation and, depending on the contributor‘s tax situation, our status as a Community Amateur Sports Club allows us to benefit from Gift Aid. Thus far we have already received £37,600 which with Gift Aid will become £47,000.
